Robert Vordtriede grew up in Illinois playing soccer, baseball, basketball, and tennis. During high school, he joined the Illinois National Guard and then transitioned to active duty Army after graduation. Robert served a total of 22 years in the military with 20 of those years as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician serving in duty stations all around the world. Robert retired from the Army in 2018 while stationed at Fort Hood, TX.
Robert began his coaching career as a recreational soccer coach for his oldest son in 2016. Two years later he started coaching club and high school boys soccer in Central Texas. In 2022, Robert and his wife Cate moved their family to Midlothian, TX for career advancement opportunities. Robert continues to coach club soccer in the South Dallas area and is the current Women’s Head Coach at Cedar Hill High School.
Soccer is a large part of the Vordtriede family. Robert has been coaching for 9+ years and has a USSF C License. Cate has served as a team manager for four years. His two youngest boys currently play club soccer, while his oldest son now referees.
